The Tao of Existence

The
One
Becomes
The two and
The two becomes, with
A proper split, the three, which then
Becomes the many making up the universe. You
And each new complex form that was and is and will become the universe as it cools,
The poetry of all creation hiding in the seeming prose of ever-greater complexity of form and information as it
Emerges, making all that is and will become more beautiful and ethical as it continues with its healthy growth. The math cannot keep up, and ignorance can only grow as learning only makes more things more complex.
Oh, can you follow this exuberance, emergent flow of fluid crystal growth in negentropic entropy, complexifying necessary if it is to understand the vast complexities creating as we speak and think and act to make the world and make ourselves into such things of excellence, can but resist the pull of nihilism.

  1. I like the concept, but I feel like the line breaks are little off...
Perhaps you're going up too high in the fibonacci sequence.

There's a specific song that does something similar but only mimics the sequence up to 8 then goes back down, then back up again.
I feel like your poem would digest better that way.

  2. Thanks. I was really trying to push the envelope going up the sequence. My shorter one works better.

  3. Yes, this first part is lovely:

    The
    One
    Becomes
    The two and
    The two becomes, with
A proper split, the three, which then
Becomes the many making up the universe.

By the way, I found your website in my attempts to better understand the "conservative" mind. Nice to see you don't really fit in any category!

    1. I'm afraid if you came here to understand the "conservative" mind, you came to the wrong place. If you came here to understand the liberal mind -- in the sense of classical liberalism -- then I may come closer.

    2. Yes, sorry, I got that. Loose language. (though - teasing here, mostly - if you're in the 8th level of the spiral dynamics ladder, I would assume you don't fit so easily in the classical liberal box either! - I'm a classical liberal/anarchist/communitarian/conservative myself; at least, a few hours a week).

    3. That sounds like an apt description of my world view. :-)

  4. Oh, and you might enjoy looking at some of Sri Aurobindo's poetry. It's available for free at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram website. I'd particularly recommend his epic, Savitri - a good place to dip in there is in Book 1, Canto 4, "The Secret Knowledge." If you read it out loud (or "out loud" to yourself) you'll get a much better sense of the "mantric rhythm" which is so important in his writings.

    1. Thank you. I'll definitely check it out. What I'm reading so far is quite interesting.
